First Appointment - Patient's Perspective

Parent’s Point of View

The Right Place with The Right People

A beautiful smile can light up a room. So when researching orthodontic care for my child; it was important to make the right choice. There are many options to consider. There are many methods to research, and there are many decisions to make. Kubo Orthodontics is respected for providing multi generations of orthodontic care in the Central Valley.

From the moment I made the initial phone call, the office staff was professional. The receptionist was informative and thorough. She walked us through the entire process. She asked questions to determine what we needed. She listened intently and was patient. Her experience was evident. We scheduled a consultation for both my daughter and me.

The appointment was scheduled to meet my family needs and the office location was convenient. When we arrived we were greeted with a smile. After we checked in on the computer screen, the office staff walked us into a private room. Everything about the initial consultation was professional and efficient. We were asked what we hoped for and what outcomes we desired. After the brief discussion, my daughter’s teeth were scanned. We were able to look at the screen and see how technology was integrated into the process.

When Dr. Kubo entered the room, he asked details about our teeth, gums, and bite. When he assessed my daughter’s teeth and bone structure, there was a sense of security. We knew we were in good hands. Dr. Kubo offered his professional recommendation for treatment. Invisalign would be the best method. He explained the process and time frame.

Then it was my turn. It’s never too late to freshen up your smile. Dr. Kubo was patient and answered every question; his explanations were thorough and concise. I knew the time was well spent and we were on the right track.

Once both examinations were complete, we discussed the investment. The financial investment was outlined. Process was detailed. Value was evident. All documents were provided and there was clarity.

It’s always a great feeling when you know you’ve made the right decision. We knew we were in the right place with the right people.

Teenager’s Point of View

Experience Shows

When I got to Dr. Kubo’s office, we headed inside. It was very cozy and home like inside. It was decorated like fall and had pumpkins. I liked their choice of décor because they didn’t really focus on the scary Halloween aspect of the month more of the season. This is good because there are some young kids that walk through that door and this made the office very kid friendly. I noticed how they had normal chairs, but they also had chairs for kids. I remember when I was little I loved things that were my size. It gave me a sense of security and safety. They had music playing, but other than that, it was very quiet.

The front desk ladies were super nice. They welcomed us in with open and genuine hearts. When it was our turn, they called us in. We walked into a small office very closed off and private. The lady helped get everything ready for Kubo and had us sit in these green seats. I looked around the room and some things caught my eye. They had some toys and books. This showed they want kids and parents included to feel like this is a comfortable environment.

She had me sit down in the big chair and scanned my teeth. This lady has worked for Dr. Kubo for over 20 years. This showed devotion to her job. She was enthusiastic and just overall made the whole experience better. She was easy to talk to and very explanatory. You could hear in her voice that she really loved what she does. She helped my mom and me in every single way that she could.

Dr. Kubo explained to us what would happen if we were to get Invisalign or braces and the process. He showed us everything he planned on doing for me and my mom. Not one person in that entire office that I met made me feel scared or worried. They all had a happy smile and an assuring voice. This ultimately made me feel safer. I could tell that they wanted us to feel this safety. They showed us everything we needed to see and answered any questions we had. There was lots of number talk, but overall I understood most of it. I just can’t wait to go back and have Invisalign and get my teeth in an even better state then before.

Go Green for St. Patrick’s Day

March 17th, 2021

Millions of people, around Fresno, CA and beyond, wear green on St. Patrick’s Day so they can show their spirit for the holiday and avoid getting pinched. While it may be easy for you to throw on a green shirt, sport a St. Patrick’s Day button, or wear a pair of emerald-hued shoes, if you’re an avid St. Patty’s Day enthusiast you may want to try something different this year. Dr. Robert Kubo and Dr. James Kubo thought of a few ideas that will help you take your holiday spirit to the next level:

Visit Chicago’s Green River

If you happen to be near the Windy City during St. Patrick’s Day or you’re thinking of planning a trip, don’t miss out on going downtown to watch the large-scale celebration that kicks off when the city dyes the river bright green. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago has been celebrating the holiday with this tradition for more than 50 years, with tens of thousands of people gathering annually to witness the mysterious dying process and the stunning result.

Don Green Face Paint

Just like an avid sports fan on game day, you can use green face paints to showcase your enthusiasm for this holiday. Avoid breakouts or allergic reactions by only using paints that are specifically meant to be applied to the skin. A little bit of face paint can cover a large area, so feel free to get creative and decorate the whole family on St. Patrick’s Day.

Eat Green All Day

Not a fan of green eggs and ham? With the increasing popularity of green smoothies, there’s no better time to get in on this health craze. To create a green smoothie without the aid of food coloring, you can simply blend a generous amount of a leafy green vegetable, such as spinach or kale, with the ingredients that you would typically use to make a smoothie, like fruit, ice, milk, or juice. Keep the trend going throughout the day by using those same vegetables to create a green soup, egg salad, or a batch of bright green pastries. As an added bonus, you’ll get a healthy dose of vitamins without changing the taste of most of these foods.

If your old holiday routine has gotten stale, leave your green T-shirt in the drawer and try one or all of these tips. Don’t be surprised if you have so much fun that you decide to start a new, annual St. Patrick’s Day tradition! Have a happy St. Paddy’s day from Kubo Orthodontic Group!

What is early intervention?

March 10th, 2021

Many developing orthodontic problems can be intercepted and corrected if diagnosed and treated at an early age. Dr. Robert Kubo and Dr. James Kubo and our team at Kubo Orthodontic Group recommend children have their first orthodontic evaluation no later than age seven, or younger if the front four permanent teeth have replaced the baby teeth. Early treatment, also known as interceptive treatment or Phase I treatment, provides both timely detection of problems and greater opportunity for more effective treatment. Early intervention guides growth and development, preventing serious problems later.

If your child is showing these signs, it may be time to think about early orthodontic treatment:

  • Early or late loss of baby teeth (your child should typically start losing teeth around age five or six, and will have all their permanent teeth in around age 12 to 13)
  • Difficulty chewing and/or biting
  • Mouth breathing
  • Sucking his or her thumb
  • Speech impediment
  • Protruding teeth (the top teeth and the bottom teeth extend away from each other)
  • Crowded front teeth
  • Teeth that don't come together in a normal manner or even at all

Early intervention will greatly reduce the severity of your child’s case, and therefore reduce the length of treatment time and cost for a second phase of treatment when all of his or her permanent teeth have erupted. An evaluation at our Fresno, CA office will determine if your child’s dental and skeletal growth is proceeding properly or if interceptive treatment is needed. Many times, a more severe problem can be corrected using sophisticated removable appliances instead of traditional orthodontic treatment.

To schedule a consultation for your child to visit with Dr. Robert Kubo and Dr. James Kubo, please give us a call! We will provide your child with an initial exam, and discuss with you the best steps to take toward caring for your child's smile.
